A character counter is a free tool that counts the characters and words in your text as you type. It is useful for staying within limits on social media, SMS, forms and SEO tags.
A standard post on Twitter / X is limited to 280 characters. Subscribers to X Premium can post much longer, up to 25,000 characters.
A single SMS holds 160 characters. Longer messages still send, but they are split into segments of about 153 characters each and may be charged as more than one text.
